Marquita Robertson is a native of Tchula, Mississippi. She began her educational journey at Milestone Elementary School and is a proud graduate of S.V. Marshall High School. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Holmes Community College and later transferred to Mississippi Valley State University. She received a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. She also completed the Teach for Mississippi Institute Program at the University of Mississippi. She worked as a Case Manager for Life Help Mental Health Agency before deciding to become a teacher.
Mrs. Robertson began her Educational career as a Special Education Teacher with the Holmes County School District in 2008. She worked passionately for her students, families, and with her colleagues to ensure that all students received the necessary services and support to provide equitable access to quality instruction. While teaching, she also served as the Special Education Chairperson for five years before being promoted to District’s Child Find Coordinator position. At the district level, Mrs. Robertson served as the district’s contact person for a child with disabilities and provided extensive support to Special Education staff and families of students with disabilities. In 2016, she completed her Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.
In 2018, Mrs. Robertson accepted a Special Education Director position with the Humphreys County School District. While there, she worked diligently with administrators, staff, and students to ensure that students with disabilities received quality instruction with services and supports.
In July 2019, Mrs. Robertson began her principalship at Webster Elementary School. She is excited to bring her expertise to staff and students as she believes it will help close achievement gaps, produce young scholars, and ignite a lifelong passion for learning.
